Sept 20th, 2015 Open Farm Day 2015 was a great day. Thank you to everyone that came out and took the tour, listened to our story, and saw what we do. We had over 310 people recorded here plus undoubtedly a few more that we missed during the peak rushes. We gave lots of tours, had lots of questions, the pigs received lots of treats and hopefully a lot of people left here with a better understanding of small farms in the Maritimes.

Aug 1st, 2015 We have added two new 30ft Hoophouses to the farm to better grow crops during inclimate weather.

21 Sept 2014 Open Farm Day was held here on the farm with 300 people taking the time to come out and have a tour, pat the animals, taste the produce, see the demonstrations, shop for our veggies, meat and organic goodies.
14 June 2014 Our Summer Market Grand Re-Opening 9am – 3pm, Located on Farm at 5324 Hwy 289, Upper Stewiacke. Come help us celebrate summer with a great event with music, food, entertainment, farm tours, demonstrations, Animals to pat & love, child friendly with play area for toddlers, Speerville Mills outdoor oven will be present with Dobbitt’s Bakehouse baking for the event. Lots of produce will be available as well as our full selection of other organic products.

1 March 2014 Attended the Truro Seedy Saturday where we sold some of our farm products as well as represented Hope Seeds and sold their great line of organic open pollinated seeds.
26 Feb 2014 Had a fun morning today, my daughter Julie and I were invited to the `Ecole de Acadienne in Truro to give a talk to the grade 8s and 9s. Great bunch of very attentive kids and we had fun talking about healthy living, sustainable small scale farming, and eating great.
1st Jan 2014 Cochrane Family Farm has started our transition period to become a certified organic vegetable farm. We have long adhered to the organic practices and principles, this stage will just help legitimize what we do.
15 Dec 2013 Cochrane Family Farm is hosting our second annual Christmas Open House.
20 – 22 Nov 2013 We attended the ACORN conference and spent 3 great days getting reacquainted with friends and making new ones in the organic world. Learned lots of new things and look forward to implementing some of the newly learned techniques.
15 Sept 2013 We took part in Open Farm Day for the 2nd year in a row, we had 199 folks take the time to stop out to the farm. Take part in the tours, the seed saving & soil making demonstrations, and our Farm Market stand. We had an awesome day.
15 Aug 2013 We now are carrying a variety of organic nuts after a long time of research and setting up a supplier. These are truly delicious.

4 April 2013 We are pleased to announce that we are now resellers for The Halifax Seed Company, carrying their seed and potting products, as well we can offer greenhouse and garden products and tools.
23 March 2013 We were set up at the Musquodoboit Harbour Seedy Saturday Event promoting the Farm and selling Hope Seeds.
23 Feb 2013 We will be at the Truro Seedy Saturday promoting the Farm and representing Hope Seeds as an independent reseller.
12 Feb 2013 Frank gave a talk and demonstration at the Stewiacke Valley Garden Club this evening on Sprouting. 
6 – 11 Feb 2013   We hosted 4 South Korean members of a government funded project to investigate our local CSA market and our mixed farming operations to take information back to South Korea to try to implement something similar.

09 Oct 2012  Frank gave a talk to the Stewiacke Valley Garden Club on Natural methods of farming and Permaculture as they are applied at Cochrane Family Farm and the benefits derived from these techniques.
16 Sept 2012 What a great day we had here with all the folks who took the time to come out and visit us at the farm, we met people from as far away as Hawaii, had lots of people take the time to learn about permaculture and the natural methods we employ here on the farm. Can't wait for next year to do it all over again. Thank you to all the folks that came. By taking the time to get out and visit your local farmers it is one more step in supporting the Buy Local movement and supporting sustainable healthy living in your province.
11 Sept 2012 We would like to inform our customers that due to extreme flooding to 4 of our vegetable gardens yesterday, we will be unable to harvest some crops until the water recedes and gardens dry up. At this moment we do not know the extent of our losses, but we will still have lots of products available for the remaining markets.

11 Sept 2012 The last day for our weekly Farm Market for this year will be Saturday Sept 29th, 2012 from 9am – 12pm stop in for some great deals and Naturally raised farm produce.
