Vermont Cranberry Bush Bean Phaseolus vulgaris
(70 days shell, 95 days dry) This New England heirloom can be traced back pre 1800s. The Pods contain 5 - 6 speckled cranberry colored beans and it can be used as a fresh snap bean, shell bean, or dry soup bean. Very hardy plants with heavy yields. The dry beans have a creamy texture and a great flavor. Does well in our shorter seasons.

Planting Depth: 1" Will germinate in: 7-10 Days. Likes sun or shade Legumes like well-drained soil rich in organic matter and a moderate amount of nutrients. Water lightly at planting, medium at flowering, and heavily throughout harvest time. Avoid overhead watering which can promote disease. Sow directly once soils have reached at least 65F, preferably after the last frost. Make small, successive plantings every 10 days for a continuous harvest. Leave the pods on the plant until they have completely dried. Store dry, shelled beans in an airtight container.
