Cucumber Little Leaf Pickling
(60 days) Cucumis sativus Little Leaf sets fruit without pollination, so may be left under row cover the entire season. Compact vines and small leaves save space and leave the mature cucumbers much more visible. Produces a large number of cucumbers even under stress. The blocky fruits are a little smaller than normal but they serve a dual purpose, pickling well while also providing good fresh eating.
You can start a second batch of plants 2 to 3 weeks after 1st to extend your cucumber harvest even longer with this variety.
Cucumbers are heat-loving plants. Direct sow 1/2″ deep when the soil has warmed up. Thin seedlings to 12 – 36″ apart. Trellising the vines saves space.
