Herb Italian Large Leaf Basil
(Annual) Ocimum basilicum This Italian heirloom has much larger leaves than Sweet Basil - 3-4" long, broad, crinkly leaves that are perfect for pesto. Growing to 14", the stocky plants have a scent and taste that is sweeter than ""Genovese"" Basil.

Start seeds indoors before last frost or direct seed after risk of frost has passed. Plant 1/2" deep in moist, rich well draining soil with a soil temp of 21degrees Celsius. Germination takes 8 to 14 days. Basil requires warm soil to germinate and once germinated it requires lots of sun and warmth. Harvest frequently to keep your plants producing and pinch off flowers to prolong harvesting.
