Famous heirloom corn, the first yellow variety developed for the table (the standard was white at the time). Introduced in 1902, this time-tested, 8-row variety has real corn taste and a lengthy harvest season. Large, golden kernals on good-sized cobs. Plants grow 5′, 80 days.
Direct sow seed 1/2 to 1″ deep, after the soil has warmed. Sow 5-6 seeds per foot, in rows 30-40″ apart. A minimum of 4 rows side by side are needed for best pollination. Companions: beans encourage growth; squash suppresses weeds; peas add nitrogen to the soil.
